12:34 May 9
We had a whirlwind of a weekend: neighborhood get-together on Friday evening, baseball all day Saturday and Mother's Day yesterday. I may have disappointed the kids a bit by choosing to spend all day in the garden yesterday--instead of going to any of the exciting places they offered: the museum! the Eno! a bike ride! But being able to slow down and focus on just one thing was just the kind of change-of-pace I needed. I feel good about the work I did yesterday (garden weeded, tilled and planted) and a certain sense of calm heading into the week. So far today has been very peaceful. I dropped the kids off at school, cleaned the kitchen, walked with my neighbor, put away laundry and paid some bills. Things will ramp up this evening when we will eat a quick dinner before two ball games at two different fields. But for now, I'm gratefully enjoying this moment and how it prepares me for the next.
